spindizzy: Catarina glaring (Suspicion intensifies)

Fuck it, bring #WIPWednesday to my Dreamwidth because I have never remembered to do it on twitter, why not!

Sewing:
  • Tillie and the Buttons/Evie La Rue: Iris (underwear) — The thing I really like about making underwear is that even if it goes horribly wrong, it's still wearable. The only people who are going to see it are me and [twitter.com profile] LexGarrett, and I don't give a shit if any of it matches. I've got pink fold-over elastic on black and grey stripes, I'm using a variegated thread I like that doesn't match in any way... It's free to be ugly as sin, and thus looks infinitely better than anything I care about. XD

Current progress: Assembled two pairs, just in the process of attaching the fold-over elastic to the legs and waist. The neatest way I've found so far is AGGRESSIVELY pinning it – full-on "If you have to ask if that's enough pins, it's not" – and stretching it a little while I sew, but I'm open to suggestions if there's an easier way.

  • House Morrigan bralette — This one I might post a picture of for two reasons. One: pattern matching is for other people. Two: the actual assembly was pretty straightforward, just endlessly sandwiching stuff and overlocking it, then turning it inside-out and repeating with now-bigger pieces. Unfortunately, I started making this when I first got my overlocker, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I managed to ripple the cups in such a way that it looks like it has seven nipples. It'll press out! Probably!

Current progress: Again, stalled by elastic! I'm mostly confident with how I'm doing that, but I want to mod the straps a bit. One of my favourite bras has a very small adjustable section, which means there's no slider digging into my shoulder and I am ALL ABOUT THAT LIFE.

  • Sew Liberated Estuary skirt — I don't know how I fucked this one up so badly. It's got an elasticated section of waistband at the back, right? And either I cut the elastic too long, or it was too stretchy, or I've just stretched it out too much, but whatever the answer is the waist is too comfy and needs about four inches of elastic chopping out of it.

Current progress: unpicking a very securely sewn in piece of elastic. Sew three rows of straight stitch over it while stretching, they said! It'll be super secure and gathered-looking they said! And here I am trying to unpick all of this tiny mess. :/

On the writing front: yelling about Danganronpa, Persona 3, and Dragon Quest Builders 2 is Sure Going, but there's nothing really sensible I can pull out of that. Instead, here is bit from a Digimon fic I've been noodling on because being an adult means you're allowed to write fic for the shows you were into when you were ten. Spoilers for the end of the Myotismon arc.

Gatomon didn't exactly stay in Primary Village, but she didn't stay away from it either. She put it on her patrol route; when she scouted around each day in case of Black Gears or some new digimon thinking it could rise to power, she stopped by the village. She and Elecmon politely ignored each other; he focused on looking after the sudden surge of babies, she paced out the rows to make sure that no one had caused problems overnight, neither of them troubled each other.

It was what she wanted from the other digimon, but whenever they saw her they wanted to chat.

She didn't know what Wizardmon had digivolved from. She had met him as a Champion, and neither of them had used enough power for Myotismon that they'd ever regressed. But they would know each other again. If she didn't know him, then he would know her. And so she patrolled, tail lashing, letting all of the newly hatched digimon see her.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's mainly it, I think? I break up from work for the summer next week, so I'm probably going to have More Stuff to talk about when I get stuck into that. Be safe and be well sweethearts!
