*BUILDS ISLAND VERY LOUDLY*

I made the very foolish mistake of starting a new game of Dragon Quest Builders 2. I was gonna just play the tutorial and then switch back to my main save file, and then I remembered how much I enjoyed running around as a tiny gormless little moppet and how Malroth is BEST BOY, so uh. Here I am, back in Furrowfield, building a farm again.
It turns out that DQB2 is INCREDIBLY easy to sequence break. My immediate reaction on being given an incrementally filled map is to run around like my hair's on fire to get at least the broad strokes in! And if you do that, MOST of the quest progression NPCs won't speak to you, but you can collect the plot-critical items, which leads to things like being told to go and learn how to plant tomatoes while standing in a tomato field. It's involved some awkward teleporting across the map to have conversations and unlock recipes as well, but it's been a good laugh.
I will say though, this playthrough is going a LOT faster. Some of this is just plain knowing what I'm doing and not NEEDING to go "What happens if I dig a hole straight down until the game won't let me any more," or "Can I tunnel through an entire mountain and into the sea before the Stop Dicking About merman shows up to eat me?" anymore! But I'm building my towns a little more efficiently, and without the high-key fortifications that I built in my first go-round, just because I know roughly what I need to squeeze into the town. And I'm... Not talking to my villagers as much as I did in my previous playthrough. And it's a shame, because I enjoy most of the bumbling disaster moppets my character lives with! But also I really want to speed through Furrowfield so I can unlock the trowel and make things look a little more even. >_>
I JUST WANT TO TRAVEL THE WORLD AND REPAIR ALL OF THESE ABANDONED STRUCTURES, OKAY. There's lots of abandoned houses and derelict barns and damaged bridges scattered across the island! And I don't need to fix them all up and restore them to their former glory, but I absolutely need to fix them all up and restore them to their former glory. So I guess depending on how I feel after FUCKING MOONBROOKE, that's my post-plot project?
... Yes I know the point of a sandbox game like this is to go wild and build whatever you want, but I just! Really like working from the roots that were left behind! I think my ideal game would be Heaven's Vault but you're reconstructing ancient buildings in space. I have no idea how a game like that would work but I do kinda want it.
