spindizzy: (Aren't you interesting?)
I need to work out what order to watch these in, because clearly release order is the order that the box set WANTS me to watch them in, but fuck that noise. I'm thinking maybe chronological order? But I don't necessarily know how that's going to work, especially as I haven't seen any Wolverine film after Origins (You did WHAT to the Merc With A Mouth?!), so guys, speculate with me.

I'm currently thinking

  1. X-Men: First Class (Because I'm pretty sure that's canon in all timelines)

  2. Wolverine: Origins (I remember the team at the start being the best ten minutes of the film? ASK ME HOW HARD I AM GOING TO ROLL MY EYES AT THE DOUBLE-DIP FRIDGING)

  3. X-Men (The one with the jellyfish and Rogue that I remember NOTHING ABOUT beyond JELLYFISH)

  4. X-Men 2 (I remember slightly more about this one, but my consistent thing has always been "The mansion raid had cool bits! Can I have more like that!" and I don't remember why I thought this.)

  5. X-Men 3 (UGH DO WE HAVE TO)

  6. X-Men: Days of Future Past (Because you see, he definitely remembers 3 and 3 is the lead-in to the darkest timeline SOMEHOW, so I guess we have to have that first, and also I guess I should find out if this is the Rogue Cut or not?)

  7. X-Men Apocalypse (AGAIN, EYE-ROLLING AT DOUBLE-DIP FRIDGING but this has the redeeming value of Hobo Erik and 90s Charles, with bonus Younger Team!)

But I legit don't know where any of the Wolverine movies fit in, or if this is the correct timeline order, or even if we need X-Men 3 at all. Thoughts? Opinions?

WELL THAT SURE WAS A FILM I ACCIDENTALLY SAW TWICE IN ONE DAY BECAUSE MIDNIGHT SHOWINGS CONFUSE ME. I literally have no idea whether I loved it or hated it because the further I get away from it the more hilarious and the more heartbreaking I find it, and it's hard to say whether that was because it was 3am when I got out of the first time I saw it or what.

The best review I've heard has been "Well it's better than The Last Stand," which is kinda... It felt like it rubbed The Last Stand and X-Men Origins together and put the cast of First Class and Days of Future Past in a bag with it? Which ain't necessarily a bad thing, but it's certainly a thing. Plus, it was actually... Surprisingly more het than I expected!

When I saw this movie on my own (we're up to three times by this point, what is my life, I'm going home.), I did end up attempting to take notes due to a conversation with Ms [personal profile] owlmoose where she mentioned that she assumed that's what I did. (I don't! I just do the watching it in my brain thing and then snark aggressively at what I remember.) It turns out that this is actually doable! But it means that I'm paying a little less attention to the movie, and I seriously need to invest in a plain exercise book if I'm gonna do that on the regular. I might save that for viewings of movies I do just to better reaction shot them.

As ever, shout out to [twitter.com profile] hardlyaverage for being my midnight showing buddy! Next time, you should probably pick the movie.
spindizzy: Moko and Kyoko from Skip Beat!, Moko emoting angry skulls and Kyoko emoting love hearts. (LET ME LOVE YOU)
Jay and I decided to watch two X-Men movies as prep for X-Men apocalypse, because they are SUPER HET and also Jay's not seen either of them! And obviously

X-Men: First Class

IN CONCLUSION: I ain't even gonna pretend that I'm not watching this franchise for the queerbaiting, because I absolutely am, I just have a habit of letting the queerbaiting convince me that the films are better than they are. ... I am still really invested in Erik and Charles and Raven though SO I GUESS I'M STILL READING ALL OF THE TERRIBLE FIC THEN. I GUESS THIS IS MY LIFE NOW.

Dear Marvel:

SPOILERS! ) Apart from that, I enjoyed your film and how when the internet told me it was GAY AS BALLS and did not lie.

Also, I am informed that the guy playing Xavier ships it, ships it hard. And that one of the deleted scenes is him going "Oh, you want to see my powers - well, I can make you see the man to me in drag, is that a clue?" and I WANT IT PRECIOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!"

But yeah, I - I want the fic of Raven and Charles growing up and being each others' keeper and HIJINKS. And GUYS ONE OF YOU POSTED A THING and the intro involved something along the lines of "In my head Erik just accepts that living with a telepath means that you can't keep a crush secret" and then there was fic and GUYS WHICH OF YOU WAS THIS? I CAN'T THINK OF WHO BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS [livejournal.com profile] halcyonjazz AND IT WASN'T SOB.

(Also I think I've figured out the problem with DW not cross-posting - I think if I don't login properly beforehand, it doesn't keep the crossposting setting of my account. Sigh.)
