spindizzy: Taiga sleeping (Naptime)

  • Dark secret: I don't actually like fried chicken. I
appreciate it as a thing that other people like, and I will eat it if it's
the only food available, but I just really dislike the texture of
    breadcrumbs.

  • Oh, this is a school-focused episode, isn't it? I can't remember.

  • ... Why DOES Saber have a twitchy antenna though, did anyone ever
    explain?

  • CRUNCH IS BAD FOR YOU, DON'T DO IT. YOU HAVE YOUR WHOLE LIFE AHEAD OF
    YOU!

  • Shirou is good, helping out with fixing things. But also wow, that is
    a LOT of paperwork.

  • Well she's energetic and literally running up the walls. (Are these
the girls from that section of Carnival Phantasm? Because I have NO IDEA
    who any of them are.

  • ... I'm somewhat confused by the lines around her pointing finger
getting thicker, I thought that was against the code of practice for
    animating.

  • He's got Dramatically Shiny Glasses, so clearly he is this girl's
    nemesis.

  • IT'S THREE DAYS UNTIL THE FESTIVAL AND YOU STILL HAVEN'T PICKED WHAT
    YOU'RE DOING???

  • I... Don't actually know enough about seafood to understand what the
problem with their list of ingredients is, unless it's something like
"These are unfeasible things for a school student to make." Or "These are
things that are completely outside your budget to afford," maybe? (I'm
pretty sure one of the things that they wanted to use was lobster, which...
No, no you cannot prepare that at a school and no one would buy it.)

  • I believe in you girls! You can come up with something in two days you
    have left!

  • ... Oh wow, that flower arrangement is COOL.

  • LANCER! Why are you a florist now!

  • I love how Lancer knows EVERY side character somehow. He is truly the
    Tori of this show.

  • NO, DON'T WASTE THE FLOWERS!

  • I genuinely can't remember if this is an episode about Issei finding
his chill or if it's one about the other characters finding some
responsibility. I THINK it's finding your chill through the medium of fried
    chicken?

  • (Crunchyroll noooo, why are you freezing on me? Is it because I have
ad-blocker on? Because if it is, we're gonna have SOME WORDS.)

  • But yes, I am here for Lancer "Ma'am"ing school students, even if
facepalming at him diffusing the situation by a) telling a girl she's
pretty, and b) the shoujo sparkles overwhelming her. IT IS IN CHARACTER AND
I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY SHE'S FULL OF SPARKLES, BUT ALSO LANCER.

  • I wonder what Saber does for food on days when Shirou doesn't
    cook.

  • CRUNCH IS BAD YOU GUYS, STOP SLEEPING AT SCHOOL AND GO HOME.

  • Man, Issei has hit the stage of exhaustion where he just sounds like a
    supervillain.

  • Student council: *UNANIMOUSLY CRAVE MEAT*

  • Man, Shirou's food apparently RAISES THE DEAD, bless him. Then again,
I have had food that good, so....

  • I don't remember how close Shirou lives to the school, to be honest,
but either way he is being a good here.

  • And that is how Shirou brought the entire student council to
    tears.

  • DON'T YOU HAVE HOMES TO GO TO. IS JAPANESE CULTURE REALLY SO OKAY WITH
YOU JUST OPTING OUT OF GOING HOME.

  • Oh god, Shirou, what did you forget.

  • HE IS SPRINTING HOME TO FEED SABER, THAT'S SO CUTE! And they're both
    beng so sweet about it!

  • RECIPE: The chicken needs to be cut into bite-sized pieces. Grate your
garlic and ginger. Then mix the soy sauce, salt, pepper, and sake to make
your marinade. Put your marinade and the chicken in a ziplock back together
and massage it well. Leave it for about five minutes. Shake any excess
marinade from your chicken, and soak it in your egg wash. Mix the same
amount of flour and corn starch, and coat your egg-soaked chicken with it.
Deep-fry it for about a minute and a half in oil that's been heated to 160
to 180 degrees celsius, then cook the chicken with the residual heat for
about a minute. By doing this, you can lock in the juicy taste of the
chicken. Make a little crack (e.g. by hitting it with the back of a ladle,
apparently) and deep-fry it again. Repeat this process two or three more
times, and let the chicken cook all the way through. Lastly, deep fry it
for thirty to forty seconds at a temperature of 200 degrees
    celsius.
