Things I didn't expect to ever happen: feelings about an episode of a tv show centring on people eating sandwiches together. Wut.

  • Hi Assassin! It's been awhile! You appear to still be alive ish, but also a Disney Princess, because the birds are coming to sing on you. Bless.

  • (Possibly if I knew the thing he's a character from, I would understand why he's a Disney princess, but it does just sound like something I should expect.

  • I really need to find the article (I think it was from Anime Feminist?) about the ways this series glosses over abuse before we get to the episode where Sakura learns how to cook something specifically for Shinji, because FUCK SHINJI.

  • Aww, you get to actually meet all of the bosses at Shirou's part-time jobs, that's kinda sweet.

  • DON'T BREAK YOUR BACK, SHINJI. But of course he stops by for five minutes and ends up doing a full work shift. OF COURSE.

  • Neko is one of Taiga's classmates! Oh, that's nice!

  • ... Oh god, they have to carry all of those crates up the stairs?! NO. WHY.

  • ASSASSIN SAVING THE DAY! I'm 100% here for Assassin using his superspeed to save the beer AND Neko. ♥

  • I assume that Reikan was Taiga's classmate too?

  • Wow, there ARE so many people there!

  • I wonder if he's thinking of Assassin or his classmate, Issei.

  • I like how Sirou immediately sees food and has to ask about them. And then just volunteers himself to make sandwiches for everyone because he can't NOT HELP!

  • I was very confused by the explanation of a sandwich, and then I remembered that Japanese bread is COMPLETELY different to bread over here.

  • Shirou: *describes a sandwich*
    The adults: *grab Shirou meaningfully*

  • Bless him just going for it.

  • ... I don't think that you can safely assume that Caster went into housewife mode, Shirou! I know that's the recurring joke about her character, but I seriously would not assume that!

  • Awww, Taiga has friends! They're all friends together! ♥

  • "I guess we all grew up and became adults." Nooooo, don't make my episode about a sandwich melancholy!

  • "I made sandwiches and was wondering if you'd like to have some." THAT IS SO SWEET, OKAY, ASSASSIN IS NOT AN ALLY, BUT SHIROU IS BRINGING HIM SANDWICHES ANYWAY. And they're just both very polite about the whole thing!

  • I wonder if that's the first food Assassin had since he was summoned? ;_; He looks so peaceful and content with his life!

  • Shirou, aren't you at least going to eat some? Also, I'm assuming that you had student council stuff, which is why Shirou got back to YOUR HOUSE before you did.

  • Issei squabbling with his brother over who gets to eat food from Shirou makes me happy.

  • I love the three cherry blossoms on the plate like they're the tip or something.

  • I'm now trying to think back to my mythology to see if the explanation for Caster being a housewife is there, but I'm stuck on the fact that every time she canonically did something housework-esque, somebody died.

  • "So you're not inclined to make them? The things called Sandwiches?""
"... Where did that come from?"
ASSASSIN LIKES THIS MODERN FOOD THAT'S BEEN BROUGHT FOR HIM AND CASTER IS SO CONFUSED!

  • RECIPE FOR TODAY: Bacon and spring greens sandwich! You'd think this wouldn't require a complex recipe, but no! This is the most complicated sandwich I've seen instructions for! The tl;dr version of the recipe is "Boil the greens, slather crispy-fried bacon and eggs with a whole gran mustard sauce, and stick them between bread" so if you wanna do that, GO FORTH!

  • Blend some Japanese mustard and butter together to make a mustard butter spread for the bread.
Mix mayonnaise, whole grain mustard, honey, and coarse ground pepper together to make your sandwich source.
Add a dash of salt to some boiling water. Add the spring greens, stalk-first since the stalks take longer to cook, and boil them for a minute or two.
After boiling, immerse them in ice water, then make sure they're fully drained. Salt the eggs beforehand, then scramble them.
Pour a little extra oil to fry the bacon in, and let them get crispy on low to medium heat. When they're done, blot them with paper towels to remove the excess oil.
Spread the mustard butter on one side of the bread, and layer the filling on top of it.
When you're done, don't cut them yet. Instead, cover the bread with plastic wrap, so it won't dry out. Weigh them down lightly with something flat for five to ten minutes to blend all the ingredients together.
