Reaction Shot: She-Ra Episode Two (or JUST GIVE HER THE SWORD)

RIGHT, I'm back, with more She-Ra because apparently what I'm in the mood for is pureness and joy. And hopefully fewer giant bugs. GO ADORA, GO!

• ... Oh no, these opening credits are TOO PURE, help.


• "I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me."


• Adora screaming and falling over after her magical girl transformation is the BEST.


• "I didn't know being a princess was contagious!"


• Bow simultaneously panicking and being the voice of reason is great.


• "Woosh, I'm in a tiara!" ADORA'S REACTIONS TO EVERYTHING ARE THE GREATEST, I LOVE HER.


• "Do it again, do it again!"


• Guys, seriously, do you think that taking the sword off Adora might have caused some of these problems?!


• "You can read that?" "You can't?"


• I'M WITH GLIMMER, THAT'S THE WORST PASSWORD.


• BOW IS THE MOST GENRE SAVVY OF THEM ALL AND HE ACTUALLY THANKS HER FOR SAVING THEM?! Waaaaah I love Bow.


• Glimmer trying to be She-Ra is so cool as a character note! I love it!


• Man, the Horde told them NOTHING, but also that's unsurprising!


• GLIMMER IS TRYING TO PROVE HERSELF AND BOW IS TRYING TO LOOK AFTER HER! ;_;


• (Like, I'm assuming that Bow does get a storyarc? Because yay prominent Black character! But also if he's just there to prop up the female character's storylines, that kinda negates the "It's nice to have a dude in a supporting role" thing.)


• (Although can I just say that I DO LIKE that the character who most wants to make peace and friends and support everyone around them IS THE MALE CHARACTER? I contain multitudes and my feelings are conflicted.)


• "The scary one in the cape!" And Adora's so baffled that it's her!


• OH NO, THEY ACTIVATED THE CONTROL SYSTEM AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONTROL IT. ALSO PROBABLY ADORA TALKING TO IT WOULD HAVE WORKED, IF ADORA HAD ACTUALLY ASKED SOME OF THE QUESTIONS BECAUSE SERIOUSLY ADORA WAS THE ONLY ONE THE SCARY HOLOGRAM REACTED TO.


• LOCKDOWN?! LOCKDOWN IS BAD!


• GLIMMER YOU ARE ALL GOING TO DIE DOWN THERE WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! HOW CAN GIVING HER THE SWORD BE WORSE THAT YOU ALL GETTING CRUSHED?! Are you seriously THAT jealous about the princess thing?!


• Glimmer and Bow save the day! GOOD WORK TEAM. Glimmer being more willing to try something that she doesn't know if she can physically do rather than trust Adora for thirty seconds is a great character note, but also aaaaaaugh. ... But look! She and Bow work together so well!


• Glimmer asking Adora why she hasn't escaped yet, and it's really sweet.


• Every time Glimmer considers trusting Adora, she visibly remembers that Adora's in the Horde! And Bow clearly remembers it to, but is just like "Eh, join our side anyway."


• CATRA LYING FOR ADORA EVEN IN THE FACE OF SHADOW WEAVER IS TRUE FRIENDSHIP FIGHT ME.


• "She would never depart without telling you," I mean my dude she nearly did?! Literally she only told Catra because Catra chased her?! Also, I appreciate so much that they didn't go the "She's your best friend," route – it doesn't matter WHAT Catra and Adora's relationship is, because all that matters is that they're close. THIS SHOW WAS WRITTEN BY PEOPLE IN FANDOM AND HERE IS THE PROOF.


• "Then I guess she let us both down, huh?" *VELOCIRAPTOR SHRIEKING BECAUSE MY HEART.


• Catra is trying so hard to protect Adora anyway, and I'm just! I'm dying!


• "We'll be in and out." I guarantee that will not happen.


• "You don't have parties in the Fright Zone?!" BOW. IT'S CALLED THE FRIGHT ZONE. WHAT DO YOU THINK?!


• Adora discovered sugar and deserts and stories, and GLIMMER'S FACE, OH MY GOD.


• ADORA'S FACE WHEN SHE FIRST SEES A HORSE, OH MY GOD, THIS IS SO PURE! AND SHE GETS TO PET A HORSE! THIS IS AMAZING!


• ... Oh bless her, this is her first time seeing what the Horde actually do?! IF SHE HADN'T RUN AWAY, SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED AHHHHH.


• "Thaymor's supposed to be a heavily fortified Rebel fortress, not a civilian town!"


• Adora trying to save the people and stop the attack, even though they're her own people! Oh no!


• I swear you can hear Catra purring when she's happy.


• "They let me drive a tank!" YOUR PRIORITIES CATRA.


• GLIMMER STOP DOING MAGIC YOU'RE HURTING YOURSELF.


• BUT THEY DIDN'T KIDNAP HER! CATRA! LISTEN TO HER!


• "It'd be funny if she weren't such a terrible person."


• The line that fucking slayed me dead: "Duh! Did you just figure that out?!" Man, Catra being okay with every adult in her life lying to them and manipulating them because she and Adora look out for each other and that's all that mattered to her! ;____; Especially because she's convinced that they're both going to be on top somehow! CATRA THAT IS NOT GOOD, THAT IS A HORRIBLE LIFE AND YOU BOTH DESERVE BETTER.


• I don't know what's worse, that's Catra knew or that Adora didn't. Did she really not see Shadoweaver trying to play them off against each other?! Did Catra shield her, or did Adora just... Not realise?!


• ADORA WANTS CATRA TO RUN AWAY WITH HER!


• "I'm sorry your mom doesn't see how strong you are, but that's her loss."


• "Oh man, that was a lot stronger than I thought! Are you okay?" AND THEN SHE SHOCKS HER AGAIN, CATRA WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!


• "Because you left me!"


• At least Glimmer acknowledged that Adora could have solved the ruin problem before.


• MAGICAL GIRL TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE YES, MY CHILDHOOD IS REAL, I LOVE IT!


• CATRA STOP THAT.


• ... ROBOTS STOP THAT TOO.


• "It's been an honour serving beside you, Horsey." BOW IS SO PURE.


• SHE-RA JUST WALKING THROUGH AN ARMY, OMG.


• CASUALLY WRECKING THE TOWN ON HER OWN. AND BLOWING UP A TANK WITH A SWORD. AND THROWING A ROBOT LIKE IT'S NOTHING. LIKE, SHE-RA DOESN'T EVEN FIGHT LIKE ADORA, THAT'S IMPRESSIVE.


• I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT SHE-RA CASUALLY WALKING THROUGH THIS TOWN, OKAY, SO MANY, BECAUSE IT'S NOT SOMETHING ADORA WOULD DO BUT ALSO I LOVE IT???


• ... Is the ending of this series going to involve Adora having to fight her demons as herself, not as She-Ra?


• SCARY CAPE LADY.


• The moment where she's still She-Ra but the power's abandoning her is just! So good!


• Can I just say how nice it is to find faceless officers with female voice actors?! Like, things that I wasn't expecting: that!


• Catra fleeing from Adora! ;___________;


• Adora being utterly horrified that she turned against the horde, oh no, oh honey.


• All the ways that Adora is told to come home in this episode, and it's the home that she's never been to and can't even conceptualise – the one that she's been told is actually hell this entire time! – that is working on her. ;_______;


• There is going to be a whole thing at some point about how the Horde is full of gritty pollution tech and the rebellion is full of nature and magic and historic-looking tech, right? And how the sun never seems to rise in the Fright Zone?


• "Best friends squad!"
