spindizzy: Catarina and Sophia looking excited while reading the same book (Sharing is carinng)

There's a trailer for the next series of My Next Life as a Villainess, and I'm feeling exceptionally valid in my "Mary and Alan team up for Catarina" headcanon! I only wrote like two half-scenes of it before I got distracted, but HEADCANON CONFIRMED. And my questions about "BUT WHO ARE THE OTHER TWO ROYAL SIBLINGS?!" might finally be answered!

Oh, and here's the two half-scenes and the point where my brain slammed the brakes on.

"I'd like to propose an alliance," Alan said, not looking up from the piano keys. "Neither of us can win her on our own, there's too much competition. But together, we might stand a chance."

Mary was glad that he wasn't looking at her, because there was no way that she could have controlled her expression. She could barely control her thoughts, which was a shame when she blurted out the first one that came to her: "You knew?"

She'd put so much effort into steering him away from his feelings for Catarina! He'd seemed happy enough not feeling – that – for anyone! How could he know!

"I thought everyone knew. ... Except Catarina."

Research was a critical step, whether it was in gardening or in classes, and affairs of the heart couldn't be that much different. Which meant that Mary had to consult an expert, whether it was a good idea or not.

"You don't usually visit on your own," Sophia said perfectly pleasantly as she poured tea, as though they weren't fierce rivals. "Can I help you with something?"

Mary took a deep breath, feeling her face heat up already. "I was hoping that you could recommend some books."

Sophia blinked, then folded her hands in her lap. Mary knew it was an unusual request even without her caveats – she could follow along with Sophia and Catarina's conversations about books, and sometimes even read the romances they suggested, but this was the first time she'd sought out recommendations.

"I was wondering if – if you knew of any between more than two people."

[WHAT IF SOPHIA THINKS SHE'S BEING INVITED AS WELL OMG]
