I have paid off my Animal Crossing house! \o/

I didn't realise that Animal Crossing had a narrative at all, but... I think I finished it? It hasn't changed anything except for who visits my island at the weekend, which is good, but in my brain it was like The Sims and the only narrative it had is what you gave it! But that confusion to one side, I'm still playing and still having fun.
- HAS EVERYONE SEEN THE JULY UPDATE?! We can go swimming! There's other stuff in this month's update, like ALL OF THE NIGHTMARE BUGS, but I've been incredibly hype about swimming. I only have two grumbles about it, which are 1) the wetsuits are ugly, and 2) I've not really found an easy way to dump all of your things when you want to go into the water. I've got half a changing room set up on the beach that I need to keep tweaking – it's got all of the swimming gear and a nice little fire to warm up by, it's just not very pretty yet. ... I would fight someone for an actual usable storage box that I could put my tools in while I swim I'm just saying.
- I finally figured out why there were birds on my noticeboard! They're the new message notification! Yes it's been like three months and I only just figured that out, hush.
- Cyd and Elvis are apparently counted as "grumpy" characters because whoever labelled the character types is WRONG and doesn't understand that they're beautiful balls of sunshine.
- MY VILLAGERS ARE MAKING FRIENDS! I didn't know that they could do that! But it gives me warm fuzzies when I pop in to visit someone and find that I wasn't the first one there. Plus, what I have learned from my earwigging: Pashmina knows how to fight and doesn't realise that "moves" can also refer to dance moves, and Cyd used to work on a rigged ring-toss game on a boardwalk. Plus Cyd is concerned about whoever's stomping about the island in the middle of the night and I have a horrible suspicion it's me.
- Isabelle does not like the number of trees on my island, which is obviously unreasonable because I have a perfectly sensible number of trees. (I am cutting down probably half of the non-fruit trees, but I will not surrender my orchard! ... I will probably stop stealing every fruit-bearing tree from tour islands.)
- I've had my first bug-off! It's really nice, I love getting to see all of the villagers being excited about the same thing!
- My island layout is MOSTLY finalised! I have one island connected to the airport that's got all of the buildings on, and anything on the other side of the river is for flowers and the orchard. And I've put all of my houses on a grid, because I am very much a townie and not living cheek-to-check with people is weird to me. ... Also there's a SPACE behind my museum and I need to fill it with something. Maybe I'll make a park!
- I know I SHOULDN'T just set up a lucky dip of all of the unused stuff I've accumulated, but seriously if you need something LET ME KNOW before it all goes to the Nook Twins.
- It turns out that I am EXCEPTIONALLY the mum friend when I open my island up for visitors, even if I can't be there to show people around. Like "It's raining so I've left you an umbrella and a snack, here's the key to the colour code of the paths, here's all of the stuff that you can take if you want!" levels of mum friend. ... It's probably too extra to just make a dreamwidth post I can link to with that information, isn't it?
- Speaking of being too extra, did I tell you all that I've made a little diary for my Animal Crossing shenanigans? I've got one that's for tracking things like turnip prices and when certain shopkeepers have visited, so I can track patterns! I saw a post from someone that said you're guaranteed to get Kicks, Sahara, and Leif every week (with KK Slider and Daisy Mae on their own schedules), and any other visitors rotate, and that actually matches up with my data! ... I also have one notebook that's just like an actual diary, like a roleplaying journal or something where I just... Write about my day in Animal Crossing, and sometimes draw pictures because THIS IS THE SORT OF NERD THAT I AM.
- I referred to turnips as The Forbidden Root on twitter to try to avoid people who were searching for prices, and I think I'm just gonna stick with that from now on! ... Also if anyone needs a turnip price predictor, this one hasn't been wrong for me yet and I can actually understand it!
