I should give in and get a nu:carnival icon

So there's this specific subset of kvetching in the nu:carnival fandom about how Morvay and Aster, the first two characters you meet, only have three versions and there aren't any super special rare editions and whatever. New versions of them have been previewed, a whole bunch of people are losing their minds about whether they like it or hate it, and I'm over here like I need to make deductions about the lore based on exactly two PNGs!!!
So listen. From what we've seen of Huey in people's memories, Huey was an emotionally detached arsehole. Lotsa disdain for everyone. Would probably hate everyone and everything if that wouldn't require more effort than his existential ennui. And normal Aster is a mischievous little gremlin who thrives on chaos and loves being around people.
I couldn't make these two things quite fit together! Why would someone deliberately create someone so antithetical to their own personality and preferences? Especially considering Aster was supposed to be Huey's constant minion, so he'd be around Huey most of the time. But the new design is basically the missing step I needed to put it together. The new version of Aster is supposed to be a reversion to the OG edition, the version that Huey made. He's very statuesque, very restrained, kinda disdainful. He looks like he'd survive in a room with Kuya and Huey without getting eaten alive.
The game has given us the Aster that Huey made vs the Aster that Aster made! Aster is a tiny menace because that's who he chose to be instead of because of how Huey made him! That makes so much more sense!
And it raises questions about Morvay. Morvay's canonically a himbo that Huey made as a companion for Aster, right? So that means that Huey looked at his six foot pet vampire and went "He needs an emotional support yakuza uncle. Yes. Perfect." (Shout out to
Phaelax for describing Morvay as a yakuza uncle; they said it and I can't unsee it.) Was it deliberately trying to fuck with Aster? Was it a "Be careful what you wish for" punishment for having social needs? Was it an experiment to see what would happen if he put two opposite styles together? Did he just really want to make a himbo who wears a knuckleduster as a necklace? I must know.
I've also seen people kvetching that some of the new designs is too close to vampire!Yakumo from the halloween event, to which I say no you fool! We now have confirmation about goth fashion circa a century ago! Or hell, Duke whassisface was writing around the time OG!Aster was knocking about, if you want to believe that his vampire's look was inspired by Aster, I'm pretty sure that's possible. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Yes I wrote 500 words of speculation based on literally two pngs and Huey canonically being an arse. This is absolutely what I expected of me.
