spindizzy: (We'll give him a rebellion)
Hey guys, it's been... Some kinda week. Possibly even some kinda fortnight.

  • We had house guests coming up last Friday (Two of my ex-housemates, who fortunately weren't staying with us, and one of Lex and Mike's ex-housemates, who was), so I spent most of last Thursday afternoon and evening sitting on the floor trying to clear enough space to set up an air mattress, which took LITERALLY ALL AFTERNOON AND MOST OF THE EVENING, I wish I was joking. The old family joke about "Susan will spread out to fill all available space" is still in full effect, to the point where I ended up with three overflowing bags of rubbish to throw away/recycle and one full of stuff to dump upstairs by the end of it. On the plus side: I found a bunch of stuff that I'd lost?

  • House guests were fine! We ate a lot of cake, played a lot of board games, the fact that my body is still occasionally inflicting naps upon me actually came in handy for once, because when I was peopled out my body just knocked me unconscious for two hours. I spent a lot of time hanging out with the people I liked, and said MAYBE five sentences to the one that I don't, so I came away with an overall favourable impression of everyone! (One of the ones I like is pregnant, and I'm kinda "Y THO" at all of her partner's choices. I'm happy that my friend is happy though!)

  • (I'm not saying that there was a point this weekend where I went "Wait, we're a party of nine, did someone remember to book tables?" and then did a bit of running around talking to people and going "Hi, my friend is a dumbass and forgot that it's a bank holiday weekend, I assume we can't come in?" but I did make at least one member of staff laugh, so I'm counting it as a win.)

  • We played Tsuro! I love Tsuro, it's probably the most simple game that I own and so I never get to play it because my social group is full of people who like complicated games. ... Actually, I was mostly joking when I said that but LITERALLY all of the games I own myself are simple games that take about as long to play as they do to set up, so maybe I wasn't joking. We also got to play Forbidden Desert, Pandemic Contagion, and Tsuro of the Seas, so I was a very happy Susan who got to play lots of short things. (We did not make it out of the desert in Forbidden Desert, we in fact all died of thirst one tile flip from the end. Also in Tsuro of the Seas, I got turn two eaten by sea monsters, 10/10 would play again.)

  • As part of my tidying efforts, I bought myself a pack of folders, because I'm CHRONIC for just tossing papers down wherever and never being able to find them again! And I designated a bright red folder as my "to do folder," where I put everything that I needed to do something with, and... I think it's working? I went through my red folder on Monday and stuck post-its to everything saying what I needed to do with it, and... I actually did some of it? It's almost like when I know what my next steps are and where to find things, I can be a functioning adult!

  • This week also involved three medical things of varying degrees of scary, confusing, and nope, but I did them! And now I'm in the "Hurry up and wait" stage of this process, where I've done everything I can do, and I need to wait for medical professionals to do what they can do and get back to me. I'm only slightly freaking out from impatience.

  • [twitter.com profile] splend and I started playing Until Dawn! So far I have headcanoned Hannah as a track and field champ at her school, forgotten it's not a David Cage game repeatedly, designated Sam as Final Girl, and cheered as we whomped Mike with snowballs. (I know [personal profile] rionaleonhart likes him, which suggests that he's going to suffer a lot, but I can't stop thinking that he looks like the twenty-one year old who has seventeen year old girls thinking they're cool for dating him because he has a car.) I'm probably going to yell about it in another post; we've got to the first PREVIOUSLY ON, which seemed like a natural place to take a break, and then the next day that we were going to spend playing it we both had applications to fill in and panic over.

  • ... Oh yeah, I applied to be a Smart Bitches, Trashy Books reviewer and I'm trying really hard not to think about it because augh.

  • I've just realised how close we're getting to me breaking up for summer! I'm on a forty week contract, which means that I don't work for two months in summer and they take a certain amount off my pay each month to pay me during July and August. I am TENTATIVELY HYPE, because I figure I'm either going to spend two months sleeping, playing video games, or writing, and EITHER WAY I WIN.

  • I'm also going to be inheriting [profile] hardlyaverage's larp filofax when his character retires, which I need to figure out what I'm doing with. I'm tempted to fill it with writing stuff, but I already have a fauxdori full of my deadlines, so... Might be excessive. (CONSIDER THIS THOUGH: maximum squiggle space for ideas!)

  • I painted my nails again! This isn't news, but I feel more like myself? Like, I'm on a bit of an upswing, so I got [twitter.com profile] captainraz to put my undercut back in and I painted my nails chocolate box purple. It's nice to feel more like me?

  • I also bought myself new clothes for the first time since like, last summer. Buying cute dresses while fat is still a pain, buying comfy shirts while fat is less of a trauma than I remember, buying bras while apparently having a human body at all is a weird and nonsensical curse that I can't unravel. It's nonsense. But SOON it will be cute dresses and sunshine weather! SOOOOOOOON!

  • Ummmmm... I don't know what else has been going on that I haven't mentioned. I fell off The Arcana's bandwagon a couple of days ago and I need to get back on it because I'm SO CLOSE TO THE END. I want to play SO MANY GAMES, it's ridiculous. The one that is currently being my soothing "put on an audiobook and play this game for a few hours" game is House Flipper, which I have some questions about. Like, why are washing machines considered bathroom furniture? Why are these house buyers expecting to get their houses fully furnished exactly to their tastes, when they should count themselves lucky that I've done anything more than repaint and carpet the place? YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY A HOUSE, YOU CAN AFFORD FURNITURE. ... It's very confusing, is what I'm saying. It might be a good game for me to get someone else to make furnishing decisions about though, because it's literally the thing I care about the least!

  • Anyway, I'm okay. I am somewhat tired, as always, but apart from that I'm fine! I'm just slightly counting down the days to the holidays!
