[Fic] Final Fantasy VII // Recognition

With the explicit proviso that I am kinda rough on my FFVII memories and can't remember how Cloud and Tifa actually re-meet! I'm assured that it's close enough to [spoilers] that he's still looking strung-out and not with it at all.

Final Fantasy VII // Recognition
G | Cloud, Tifa | No spoilers or warning | She barely recognises him at first.

The first time she sees him in Midgar, he's slumped against a wall, oblivious to the water pouring down on him, flexing his trembling hands around his sword. And she's so shocked to see him, she stops and says "Cloud?"

He looks up at her, eyes hollow and sunken and almost glowing in the dark, and after a minute he says "Tifa?"

Tifa crouches there in the rain, heart beating fast. "You remember me?"

That pause again, but he says "Of course I do," and the part of her that never stopped feeling like a ghost starts to breathe again.
