This is what I came up with while brainstorming for something longer and sillier. I am so ready to write ridiculous nonsense.

(COME TO ME DECEMBER, I HAVE SO MANY LONG FIC I WANT TO BOUNCE OFF. Also, I keep thinking that Monday is December and being like "Nope, no advent calendar for me.")

Wrex is probably the least surprised of anyone that Shepard came back. He just claps her on the shoulder – it's difficult to reach Shepard through all of the wires and tubes poking out of her, but anywhere else is wrapped in bandages and he's learned about hitting humans in bandaged areas – and laughs like they've just brought down another Reaper. "I told you, redundant nervous systems!"

Under the breathing mask, she appears to be smiling. Her fingers twitch, and she slowly taps out the words "Still don't have one" on the computer they've left for her to talk through.

"It's fine, there's time for you to grow one before the next time."
