spindizzy: Cartoon of me wearing a mask and looking tired (it me but tired)
Okay, I have finally sent my INCREDIBLY long complaint email to work, after rewriting it about eighteen times, so I can come back and complain about work!

WE ARE STILL OPEN AND THERE ARE NO PLANS TO REDUCE OUR LEVEL OF SERVICE.

The thing that I'm churning over is what counts as a library service. If you asked me, I'd say that we haven't provided a library service since we reopened – we've been open as a space, but specifically restricted from functioning as a service. Most of our job right now is queue management and asking people to put their masks back on, and we're specifically advised not to answer in-person enquiries. Highest Management wants us to prioritise being a space for the students to study in! Neither of us are particularly wrong in general, but in this apocalypse I think I'm a little more right.

I did bitch to my doctor about this because he is a very kind soul, and he's actually gone "Oh, that all sounds like reasonable things to be anxious about" and I genuinely had a record scratch moment of "Wait, really?!"

So yeah, that's the current situation at work. I am very tired, but I'm coping! Current plan is "See if I can get my writing sorted out" followed by "Maybe reach out to the people who have offered me work before" so that I'm not panicking if this does end in redundancies. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Syaaaaaaaaaa~

spindizzy: Trevor slumped over looking knackered (Let me sleep)
In news unrelated to how much capslock work has induced: [twitter.com profile] LexGarrett and I watched Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle! It is very meta, very cute, and very murder.

The basic premise is that the Demon King kidnaps a human princess and whisks her off to his castle to be a hostage, and regrets every decision that led to that choice when she decides that her bedding Will Not Do and dedicates herself to achieving the best and most comfortable sleep! The world is very RPG-based; every episode has little quests, the demons are specifically trying to lead adventurers through dungeons in difficulty order, and nobody stays dead! Which is good, considering how often the princess and the demons straight up just die.

(It's okay, the princess is very excited about sleeping in a coffin.)

I think my favourite part of it is – okay, no, my favourite part is unquestionably the teddy demons, who are adorable bat-wing teddy bears who will trade cell keys for being brushed. They are the cutest, I love them, what good babies. But my slightly less favourite things are how absolutely unfased the princess is, and how her understanding of her position is just... Non-existant. Why WOULDN'T she escape her cell to go and collect materials for a bed? Why WOULDN'T she spend eighteen hours a day sleeping? Why WOULDN'T she accidentally charm the entire demon world into catering to her bizarre whims and crafting projects because it's safer than letting her run riot on her own? ... Seriously, the princess is a tiny menace. I don't know why anyone thought she'd need a hero to rescue her when she's an absolute beast. Everyone is just really lucky that her only concern is napping and gathering craft supplies.

Plus, I'm just very fond of fantasy shows that go "Yes we are a traditional fantasy setting, but fuck it we have shopping channels and phones because we can! And the villains are all very aware of the RPG tropes they're falling into, like being a boss encounter, or how the princess is SUPPOSED to be acting.

So yes, it's very silly, the princess is definitely an overpowered villain in a different story, and I absolutely have accidentally taken a nap while watching it. NOBODY JUDGE ME.

(It's all on Funimation if you want to watch it!)
