My brain has been on shuffle+loop for a WEEK

Thing I have learned this week: They Might be Giants and Nick Cave are all real! I didn't know that! I thought that someone made them up for a tv show or something, but no, apparently I was wrong!

Instanbul (Not Constantinople) by They Might Be Giants — This is one of those songs that my brain latched onto so I looped it for legit THREE DAYS, augh. I blame this tiktok.

Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds — I still have no idea what this song is about, tbh, because somewhere along the line my brain lumped it in with His Face All Red, so obviously it's a horror story.

Babylon by Five Seconds of Summer — I swear I used to listen to a more techno version of this, but google can't find it so I can't be sure.

Hey Mario by Patent Pending — I've been playing a lot of Yoshi's Crafted World lately, and it turns out that when I play Mario adjacent games too much I get this stuck in my head. I blame jilliferium for introducing it to me.

Youngblood by Five Seconds of Summer — I listened to this song once, thought it was okay, and then woke up with it in my head the next day. Thanks brain!

Feel it Still by Portugal — Going back to songs where I have no idea what's going on: this thing!

I just remembered that Dreamwidth HAS A BOX FOR WHAT MUSIC YOU'RE LISTENING TO

MUSIC TIME! Man, I remember when I used to have an actual routine going for this, back in't day.

Zealot by Gemini Syndrome — I don't know who needs angry music about blind faith right now, but here you go mate, got you covered!

Shut Up and Dance (acapella cover) by Jonathan Young — I'm like 97% certain that somem of this is autotuned to the right pitch, but it's not a bad cover!

I Found a Girl by The Vamps, ft. Omi — Real talk, the thing that pisses me off about The Vamps is that they have very catchy songs that have the most fuckboi lyrics of all time. This one is "Holy shit, lesbians exist! And can have male friends! Even though they're hot!" Worth watching at least once for the adorable baby queers though.

Cake by the Ocean by DNCE — I permanently associate this song with Uncharted because of one of those taunt dance videos that were popular a while back. If I ever write the Uncharted college AU I threatened to, this is going on the soundtrack.

No Roots by Alice Merton — I like this song, but it could really do without "g**sy" being a main part of the chorus.

Die By the Blade by Beast in Black — Lex sent me this song explicitly and specifically because it's the song for my ships. ESPECIALLY my Fate ships. CALLED OUT BY MY OWN HUSBAND, WHAT IS THIS.

Dogs of War by AC/DC — ... Speaking of my Fate ships, this is on Lex's Fate/Stay Night playlists as his song for the Archer/Lancer fight near the beginning, and I'm just like "Yes, but also it is my shipping song now." This is why I keep getting called out, isn't it?

YOLO by Lonely Island — I know that people are trying to bring "Don't stand so close to me" back as the plague song, but I raise you "YOLO / SAY NO NO / ISOLATE YOURSELF AND JUST ROLL SOLO." ("Don't go outside cos you don't wanna die" is also a big mood.)

We Won't Be Falling by Xueran Chen — The way the music kicks up every time he yells gets me right in my emotions. Like, "This song makes me want to cry????" levels of getting me right in the feels. How did Guardian end up with such a good theme song when they skimped on literally every other aspect of production?????

The Original by Oh The Larceny — Lex makes fanmixes for shows that he likes, and this was his pick for Gilgamesh, which is PERFECT.

The Parting Glass by Shaun Davey — Do not read the comments below the video because they're a solid 50-75% "This song will be/has been played at a recent funeral," okay, I love you and you don't need that. I listened to the version that Hozier did recently, and it reminded me that I have this version (from thebaconfat or emeraldembers, maybe?)! The way that it starts off with a single vocalist and gains more as it goes on fucks me up. ... Okay, no, the fact that I listened to this a lot during the Lost Years of 2014-2015 is probably what's fucking me up, but this is a good song.

Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon — This is one of those songs where I can't parse what it might actually be about, because my brain has declared it very obviously a scene from an urban fantasy novel where the heroine is about to do something badass and can't interpret it in any other way.

We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel — 2016-2020 HAS BEEN A VERY LONG CENTURY, OKAY.

Last One Standing by WAR*HALL — I'm really glad that one of the first results when I googled the band members for WAR*HALL was "Do Royal Deluxe, Oh The Larceny, and WAR*HALL have the same vocalist?" But yes, if I ever do make my Generic Playlist For That One Fucking Charater Type I Love, this is going on it for fairly obvious reasons.

Party Like It's 1920 by The Swinghoppers and Wolfgang Lohr — It's the party of the century, so let it commence!

Apocalypsis Ultima: Vendetta Mix — A mash-up of The Hydraean's Wrath, Apocalypsis Aquarius, Apocalypsis Magnatus & Hellfire, which means that it is EPIC AS FUCK. I think it was squeemu who found this one, but if I'm wrong I'm sorry!

Inferno by Hiroyuki Sawano, Benjamin, mpi — I don't know who needs a chirpy song about everything being on fire, but here you go!

Level Up by Vienna Teng — Real talk I don't have the brainpower to level up right now, but here's the musical version of that.

Ain't No Sunshine / Lose Yourself by Vienna Teng — I think I've linked to this one before, but it's still really cool! Vienna Teng building up the layers of her chorus is really cool and I love watching it! But I love her version of Lose Yourself, 10/10, would 100% listen to a version that was just that tiny bit.
