spindizzy: (I know what's going on)

MAN, YOU KNOW WHAT I LOVE? WOMEN SUPPORTING OTHER WOMEN. You know what episode seven of Princess Principal gave me? Fucking teenage girl spies supporting other women and helping their lives become better. YES. MORE OF THIS.

  • Man, I hope Angé's voice actress is enjoying this, because she gets to do all these different modes for Angé when she's in character.

  • But yes, the girls go undercover as laundresses! Angé's flawless disguise is JUVENILE DELINQUENT, because she puts a lot of thought into her backstories. (Sometimes I wonder how much of the truth is in her backstories, because that seems like something Angé would do. Beatrice is again SUPER NERVOUS about everything and the Princess absolutely has to come along.

  • ... Goddamn it girl in pink, you're terrible at this.

  • I feel really sorry for Rita, because if anything goes wrong it happens to her (because she's cute and timid, I guess?)

  • THIS PLACE IS A WALKING HEALTH HAZARD, OH MY GOD

  • Oh, we're on Case Sixteen, which means we've gone BACK in time again.

  • ... "Poison Gas Jack" stealing nerve gas from a military storehouse to assassinate people. ... GAS IS A TERRIBLE ASSASSINATION WEAPON, OH MY GOD YOU GUYS, ALSO WHY WOULD YOU JUST LEAVE THAT IN A STOREHOUSE INSTEAD OF FINDING A SAFE WAY TO DISPOSE OF IT?! ... Okay, yes, we know why.

  • DOROTHY DON'T JUST SHOW PEOPLE PICTURES OF CORPSES WITH NO WARNING, WHAT ARE YOU DOING.

  • I see, this case relied on the gendered division of work in a patriarchal society, and was almost completely stymied by the guy being smart enough to do his own laundry.

  • Chise gets SO MAD that everyone is taking breaks instead of working right through, which I think is an interesting character note. Especially because she reckons that they'll get paid more if they stop taking breaks, but I think they said later that they're paid a flat day rate?

  • Oh look, it's the person who is going to own this place by the end of the episode! Hi Mariella!

  • Rita's arm CAUGHT FIRE, what the FUCK, that's a terrible design!

  • They have to take breaks because otherwise the equipment catches fire! D:

  • OH GOD THAT GUY. FUCK THAT MONEY LENDING SCUMBAG. I am absolutely here for him getting the shit kicked out of him in every single episode that he appears in, because FUCK THAT GUY.

  • PRINCESS WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE IN DISGUISE, YOU CAN'T JUST BUY A LAUNDRY

  • ... Can she?! I mean, she did, and Angé almost ripped the arms off someone who tried to stop her, so...

  • Okay, here is what I like about this: it is a group of privileged girls (in terms of both money, skills and equipment – Princess can technically buy the laundry somehow even though she doesn't seem to have the money, Angé has her green magic ball to make it easier to move the equipment around, Beatrice knows how to fix it, Dorothy has people skills vs horny dudes, and Chise knows different ways of doing things) using those privileges to help other girls, in specific ways that will make it easier for them to do their work! (The specifying that the labels should have pictures because not all of the girls can read is a nice touch.) And it's things that the girls they're helping MIGHT have been able to do, but because their work is exhausting and doesn't pay enough they couldn't! So it was... A nice, concrete thing they did so the girls can do for themselves?

  • Beatrice literally swaying with tiredness because she's been up all night is such a nice touch.

  • DOROTHY STOP SOLVING ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS BY WALKING UP TO MEN AND GOING "HEY, SO, CUTE GIRLS" I DON'T CARE HOW EFFECTIVE THAT IS, FUCKING STOP IT.

  • Bless these girls being so excited about learning how to put make-up on. Like, I want to be like "Ugh, male creators," but... Sometimes putting make-up on when you've not had any before IS an exciting thing, for me anyway. IT COULD BE BOTH.

  • ... Literally the break in this case comes from someone co-incidentally being helpful and not knowing that the guy does his own laundry. Also why was dude so paranoid about being found out through the laundry?

  • DON'T THE RICH GIRLS HAVE SCHOOL TO GO TO OH MY GOD HOW ARE YOU GETTING AWAY WITH THIS.

  • WHY IS THE PRINCESS THE ONE WHO KEEPS GETTING NEARLY STABBED BUT GOOD SAVE CHISE.

  • Chise hits a guy with an iron to knock him out, and Mariella just... Walks away. Like nope, not dealing with this.

  • (Question: This show generally has a Victoriana aesthetic, right? Why on Earth is the Princess wearing such a short skirt?)

  • "Are you doubling our wages again?"

  • Eyyyyy there we go, Mariella gets that promotion that was going to be inevitable once she was introduced! And she had an emotional message for Chise, oh no.

  • (She looks very like Dorothy, it's distracting.

  • And the team are confident that the laundry girls will be okay! <3

  • ... I am just really sad that the team keep bonding with people while in disguise and then never see them again. Especially when I ship it or they have a mentor character. ;_;

  • But yes! Teamwork! Girls being happy! THIS IS THE CONTENT I'M HERE FOR.
